XWA: 'Battle of Britain' This Weekend

XWA PRESS RELEASE – BATTLE OF BRITAIN THIS SATURDAY!

Battle of Britain is the XWA’s final show of 2008 and it emanates from The Hexagon, Lancaster and Morecambe College this Saturday (November 1).

A historic night is planned with five top wrestling matches and the only advertised appearance on the UK wrestling circuit by former British wrestling ring announcer – and now UK Big Brother TV celebrity – Luke Marsden who will be accompanied by his BB co-star and girlfriend Rebecca Shiner.

With the oddest couple on television today set to appear alongside the stars of the XWA and with several unresolved personal issues on the boil, this is a combustible situation to be sure. So who knows what on earth will happen this Saturday when Battle of Britain meets Big Brother!

SPUD v LIGERO – MEXICAN STREETFIGHT, STONE/KARTEL BANNED!

Challenger and former champion El Ligero will have as fair a shot as possible when he takes on 'The Rock Star' Spud at Battle of Britain next Saturday – because their match will be a No DQ, Mexican Streetfight and the rest of The Firm are banned from the show.
XWA boss Greg Lambert invoked a clause in Martin Stone's new XWA contract which states that if any members of The Firm - that is Stone, Spud or The Kartel - are not booked to wrestle on an XWA live event, their presence at the venue is not required. Should they violate this clause and turn up on November 1, then Lambert has stated that Spud will be immediately stripped of the British Flyweight Title and it will be awarded to El Ligero!
In addition, Lambert has stated that the match between 'The Rock Star' and 'The UK Luchador' will be fought under the rules of the masked Mexican's speciality match - the Mexican Streetfight. This means there will be no countouts, no disqualifications and absolutely anything goes!
Spud and El Ligero are not only British wrestling's top two Flyweights, but two of British wrestling's top performers at any weight. Their rivalry in 2008 has been so compelling, it has been described in many quarters as the UK's Feud of the Year. Their Mexican Streetfight next Saturday could be the closing chapter. And it's bound to be an amazing spectacle.
12 months ago, El Ligero closed the book on his series with 'The Bombay Dream' Ross Jordan by defeating him in a Mexican Streetfight to win the British Flyweight Title in one of the matches of the year in the UK. Can he do that exact same thing again against Spud next Saturday? Or will 'The Rock Star' dig deep into his box of tricks and find a way to retain the belt, despite the absence of his back-up? It's going to be fascinating to find out!

BAILEY TO DEBUT THIS SATURDAY!

Following the disgraceful events to befall ‘The Champ of Camp’ Jules Lambrini this weekend (see www.xwawrestling.com for the full story) a replacement opponent has been drafted in to face ‘The Model’ Danny Hope at Battle of Britain.

And what a replacement opponent it is – one of the North West’s brightest up-and-coming hopefuls, Sam Bailey.

This exciting high-flyer has had a breakout year in 2008, capturing the Future-Shock Title and earning a spot in the UKFF50, the only list of the Top 50 British wrestlers today as chosen by the UK fans. And what a way for the Manchester daredevil to cap off his year, by being hand-picked to make his very first appearance for the XWA…although he surely would have preferred to do so in less unfortunate circumstances.

'An Afternoon with Luke and Bex'
A separate event has been added to the XWA Battle of Britain day to celebrate the arrival in the XWA of Big Brother stars Luke Marsden and Rebecca Shiner - 'An Afternoon with Luke and Bex'.
‘An Afternoon with Luke and Bex’ runs from 4.30pm to 6pm and will include a live interview with the couple conducted by the XWA's own Greg Lambert, a fans’ Q&A, an autograph signing and the chance for fans to take photographs with Luke and Bex.
XWA wrestlers will be seated among the audience during the live interview with the TV couple to be conducted by XWA boss Greg Lambert from inside the XWA ring - so who knows what might happen!
The wrestlers will also be invited to participate in the fans' Q&A which will follow the live interview and ask their own questions to Luke and Rebecca, which could be interesting to say the least!
After the live interview and Q&A has finished, Luke and Rebecca will sign autographs and pose for photographs with the fans, and some of the XWA wrestlers will be on hand to meet and greet the fans too.
And you can be part of what's bound to be an entertaining, unpredictable and fan-friendly pre-show extravaganza for only £5. There will be no additional charge for photos or autographs.
So to recap, the itinerary for the day when Battle of Britain meets Big Brother will go something like this:
4.20pm - Doors open for 'An Afternoon with Luke and Bex'
4.30pm - Live interview from inside the wrestling ring, featuring Luke and Rebecca from TV's Big Brother, and conducted by the XWA's Greg Lambert. This will be followed by a Q&A where fans and XWA wrestlers who will be seated in the audience, will have the chance to ask questions to the TV pair.
5.15pm - Fans' meet and greet with Luke, Bex and the stars of the XWA. Autographs available and photos can be taken.
6pm - The end of 'An Afternoon with Luke and Bex'
7pm - Doors open for XWA Battle of Britain
7.30pm - XWA Battle of Britain
