IPW:UK: Alex Shane Returns For One Final UK Match

Posted by S&M Stew

BritWres.com has just received the following press release

"The Showstealer" Alex Shane Returns to British wrestling for his final match in the UK EVER!

One of UK wrestling most well known personalities of the last 15 years 'The Showstealer' Alex Shane made a shocking return to British Wrestling at the IPW:UK 4th anniversary show this past Sunday in Bromley, Kent. Shane attacked Martin Stone, costing him the IPW:UK Heavyweight title to Iestyn Rees.

It was a real jaw dropper for all in attendance including several members of the wrestling press as Alex had vowed for a long time never to wrestle again since his near 3 year retirement from competition. As a promoter Shane was the man responsible for changing the entire UK wrestling land scape in the last decade with his company FWA and super shows which gave stars like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Kenta Kobashi, Mitsuharu Misawa, CM Punk, Colt Cabana and over 150 other top names their first European bookings. He is also responsible for bringing over promotions such as Ring and Honor and TNA to the UK for sell out tours. As a teacher he has the best track record in Europe with over 60 former trainees on the UK scene and 4 of his taught or mentored students currently under contract to WWE, which is a record for a European teacher. As a wrestler he holds pin fall victories over such names as Raven and Mick Foley and has the record for the most British titles held at one time for a UK performer. Shane is leaving the country to live in India at the end of the year to write his book (non wrestling related) "The Unholy Babble" and has been very open with his desire to not wrestle again in interviews over the last few years.

His attack on Martin Stone was an incredibly unexpected angle and could be the shot in the arm that IPW:UK, once seen as the company to fill the FWA's shoes, needs to regain the momentum it has lost since recently losing use of their home venue the Orpington halls. The return of Shane has already secured the promotion extended coverage in the wrestling press and two national newspapers over the coming months due to Shane's impressive career acheivements and the extensive media contacts list he has built over 15 years as a key figure in the in the UK industry.

This is the set up for 'The Showstealer's' final ever match in the UK to take place on Sunday October 26th at the Bromley Civic Hall against Stone, the man that officially put an end to Shane's former company the FWA in the inter-promotional fued with IPW:UK well over a year ago. Shane and Stone were meant to face each other then but the match was cancelled due to Shane's neck and shoulder surgery which was believed to put an end to him ever competing again. Martin Stone is seen by many as the new figure head of the UK scene and has spent the last few years having top line matches up and down the country with everyone from Samoa Joe to the Great Muta. However none of those matches has had the symbolic importance that his contest with Alex Shane will in just 5 weeks time.

Post show interviews with both Shane and Stone will be appearing in the coming days at http://www.ipwuk.com in the run up to their highly anticipated showdown in Bromley on October 26th.
